Framework

CC ME stands for Context, Credibility, Merit, and Engage. This framework helps working adults like you stay informed about the content we consume. What makes this mnemonic unique is its temporal versatility - be it a 2 minute analysis in your morning commute or a 30 minute deep-dive discussion with your lunch buddies, CC ME allows one to develop better reading habits.

The general questions for CC ME include:

  • Context - When did the event occur? Where did it happen? Why would it occur at the given place on a particular timing?

  • Credibility - Who said so? What expertise do they have to comment on the matter at hand?

  • Merit - What evidence does the author/presenter have to substantiate their points? How strong is it? Do the evidence support the point they are trying to make?

  • Engage - So what can one do with the information giiven? What happens next?

We have prepared 2 versions: one used for quick analysis (in a time scarce situation) and the other for standard analysis (when one has more time to ponder over the issue at hand).

Quick Analysis

Context: Publication date, source

Credibility: We do a quick check on the source

Merit: Examine the main claim and the evidence given

Engage: Personal Relevance

Standard Analysis
  • Context: What was happening then? Who's the audience? Did any momentous occasion occur at the same time period as the event?

  • Credibility: Author expertise, potential biases

  • Merit: Methodology, counterarguments

  • Engage: Broader implications, discussion point
